Motorway bridge from Russia to N. Korea expected to be built by 2027

VLADIVOSTOK. Feb 3 (Interfax) - The Russian government has tasked the Sochi-based TonnelYuzhStroi with designing and building a motorway bridge over the Tuman River on the border with North Korea, while the deadline for implementing the state contract is December 31, 2026.

The corresponding order of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has been published on the official legal information website.

According to the document, TonnelYuzhStroi is designated as the sole contractor of the Interregional Directorate for Road Construction in the Far Eastern Region in 2025-2026 for the construction of the bridge.

TonnelYuzhStroi can engage subcontractors and co-contractors provided that it fulfils at least 60% of the total value of the state contract.

In June 2024, the governments of Russia and North Korea signed an agreement on the construction of a motorway bridge over the Tuman River during Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to North Korea.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, TonnelYuzhStroi was established in December 2023. It specializes in "the construction of bridges and tunnels." The company's owner is Yevgeny Biryukov.
