Georgian PM describes Armenia as strategic partner, sees good prospects for trade, economic relations
TBILISI. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Historical friendship and cooperation between Georgia and Armenia have evolved into strategic partnership between the two countries, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
"It's very important that we respect each other's strategic interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Processes taking place around our countries also influence our political positions, and therefore, cooperation between Georgia and Armenia is extremely important," Kobakhidze, who took part in a meeting of the Georgian-Armenian intergovernmental commission in Yerevan on Thursday, said at a joint press briefing with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Georgia stands ready to make its contribution to regional peace and stability, he said.
"Trade and economic ties play a great role in our relations. We are happy to see positive trends in this area in recent years, but there's also great potential that we need to maximize," Kobakhidze said.
