BP planning to launch large-scale seismic surveys at Shah Deniz field in 2025
BAKU. Jan 28 (Interfax) - BP plc plans to begin a seismic exploration program at the Shah Deniz field in 2025, BP-Azerbaijan, BP's representative office in Azerbaijan, told Interfax.
"A series of seismic surveys to monitor changes in the gas reservoirs are among the upcoming key activities planned to be carried out in the contract area. The surveys will be carried out as part of the Shah Deniz seismic exploration program for 2025-2034," the company said.
BP-Azerbaijan also said that BP intends to drill and complete several wells from the Bravo platform as part of Stage 2 of the Shah Deniz field development by 2027.
At the end of the third quarter of 2024, 21 of the 26 planned wells had been drilled as part of Stage 2, namely five on the northern flank, four on the western flank, four on the southeastern flank, five on the southwestern flank, and three on the northeastern flank.
The field development contract was signed in 1996.
The parties' shareholding in the contract is currently BP (operator) at 29.99%, Lukoil at 19.99%, Turkey's TPAO at 19%, Azerbaijan's Cenub Qaz Dehlizi at 16.02%, Iran's NICO at 10%, and Hungary's MVM at 5%.
Gas and condensate production at the field is currently carried out from the Alpha platform as part of Stage 1 and the Bravo platform as part of Stage 2. Gas production began here in December 2006.
