U.S. suspends U4U program for refugees from Ukraine
MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) has announced the suspension of Uniting for Ukraine, a program that helps Ukrainians who have left their country to settle in the U.S., Ukrainian media said, citing U.S. media outlets.
"Due to the Jan. 20, 2025 Executive Order, Securing Our Borders, USCIS is pausing acceptance of Form I-134A, Online Request to be a Supporter and Declaration of Financial Support," U.S. media said.
Acceptance of applications has been halted until USCIS processes all of the requests that have already been submitted, the service said.
As reported, Uniting for Ukraine, or U4U, is a program that allows Ukrainians fleeing the crisis to enter the U.S. on humanitarian parole, i.e. permission to enter the U.S. on humanitarian grounds.
