All remaining fuel oil emptied from Volgoneft-239 tanker aground in Krasnodar Territory - authorities

KRASNODAR. Jan 28 (Interfax) - All remaining fuel oil has been removed from the tanks and compartments in the stern section of the Volgoneft-239 tanker, which ran aground in the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory, the region's operational headquarters said.

"Tank trucks finished their work. The final clearing of fuel oil from the tanks and compartments in the Volgoneft-239 tanker's stern section is fully completed," the headquarters said in a statement.

Tank trucks emptied the isolated remainders and mixes of petroleum products from the tanker and transported them away from the site on January 27, the statement said.

The bulk of the fuel oil left in the tanker was pumped from it on January 25, ahead of schedule. A total of 1,488 tonnes of fuel oil were emptied from the tanker in less than a week.

The vessel's stern section will be disposed of during the next stage of the effort. All necessary documents for that are now being drawn up and prepared.
