Georgia committed to European integration obligations - PM
TBILISI. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Georgia remains committed to European integration obligations, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told the press on Friday.
"We remain committed to obligations of Georgia's European integration despite the complexity of current relations," Kobakhidze said.
He said Georgia continues to cooperate with the European Union in the field of reforms prescribed by the plan of obligations for the next three years.
Certain European politicians have used blackmail as an instrument against Georgia, Kobakhidze said. "Those European politicians resorted to blackmail to draw Georgia into the armed conflict, yet we will not allow any steps that contravene national interests," he said.
Speaking of the domestic policy and the ongoing opposition protests demanding new parliamentary elections, Kobakhidze said that parliamentary elections had taken place and most voters vested the Georgian Dream ruling party with the right to govern the country.
"Let me remind everyone that the next parliamentary elections will be held in 2028. I recommend that the radical opposition prepare for these elections. Until then, the opposition may try its luck in municipal elections scheduled for this year," Kobakhidze said.
