Russian govt approves decision on duty-free imports of potatoes, carrots, apples until July 31, 2025
MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - The Russian government has approved the decision on duty-free imports of potatoes, carrots, and apples to the domestic market until July 31, 2025, as well as procedure to import the products.
The government said in the press release that the resolutions have been signed determining the procedure for duty-free imports of potatoes, carrots, and apples to Russia in line with the previously approved decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
At the end of November 2024, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council approved a decision according to which 150,000 tonnes of potatoes, 55,000 tonnes of carrots, and 230,000 tonnes of apples could be imported to Russia duty-free in 2025. The decision is valid until July 31, 2025, inclusive.
The resolutions aim to implement this decision.
Under the resolutions, the Agriculture Ministry has been designated the authorized body responsible for coordinating duty-free imports, the press release said. It will issue certifications of compliance for imported vegetables and fruit, ensuring they meet the criteria necessary for tariff exemptions.
The signed resolutions apply to legal relations that have arisen since January 1, 2025, it said.
"Duty-free imports of potatoes, carrots, and apples will help maintain stability in the domestic food market," it said.
