Russian election officials to take part in Belarusian presidential election monitoring

MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - A delegation from Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) will take part in monitoring a Belarusian presidential election this Sunday, CEC Chairperson Ella Pamfilova said on Tuesday.

"Representatives from the CEC of Russia will definitely participate in an international program to monitor the Belarusian presidential election due to be held on January 26," Pamfilova was quoted in a statement on the CEC' Telegram channel as saying.

She met with Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Alexander Rogozhnik, the statement said. They discussed matters relating to the organizing of election campaigns in their respective countries and agreed to continue sharing experience in the framework of bilateral cooperation.

Alexander Lukashenko, who has been president of Belarus since 1994, is running for the seventh term.
