Azerbaijan ready to bolster partnership with U.S. - Aliyev in greetings to Trump
BAKU. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Donald Trump on being sworn in as the U.S. president and expressed Baku's readiness for close interaction with Washington in various areas.
"My sincere congratulations on being sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. I wish success to your important high-level activity to the benefit of the friendly American people. I have no doubt that your activity will play an essential role in promoting global peace and strengthening international security," Aliyev said in his greetings published on the presidential website.
Azerbaijan and the U.S. have always been cooperating closely in the containment of global challenges and threats and in the war on international terrorism and its diverse manifestations, he said.
"I highly appreciate our energy cooperation aimed at ensuring the energy security of U.S. allies and would like to emphasize your constant support for Azerbaijan's energy policy. We intend to continue the active and fruitful joint work with the United States and closely interact in traditional and new areas," Aliyev said.
He said he was confident the friendly relations and partnership between Baku and Washington would gain new strength and content during Trump's presidency.
