Russia's Unigreen Energy launches 63 MW solar power plant in Kalmykia

ELISTA. Jan 15 (Interfax) - Unigreen Energy LLC has launched the Krasinskaya solar power plant (SPP) with capacity of 63 MW in the Lagansky District of Kalmykia, the company's press service told Interfax.

"Unigreen Energy has completed construction and launched a SPP in the Republic of Kalmykia with capacity of 63 MW. Investments in the project have totaled over 6 billion rubles. Commissioning the new facility brings total installed capacity of solar power plants to 297 MW in Kalmykia, meaning that the republic is among the top three regions in Russia by this indicator," the press service said.

The Housing, Public Utilities and Energy Ministry of Kalmykia told Interfax that the Krasinskaya SPP is the fourth in the region after the Maloderbetovskaya SPP with capacity of 60 MW, the Yashkulskaya SPP with capacity of 58.5 MW, and the Arshanskaya SPP with capacity of 115.6 MW, which is Russia's largest SPP.

The company's press service said that the attained volume of installed capacity has boosted the share of solar energy in the structure of Kalmykia's energy system to 55.6%.
