Poland plans to accelerate Ukraine's accession to EU during its presidency - PM

WARSAW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - Poland will take advantage of holding presidency of the European Union to promote Ukraine's accession to the EU, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.

"We will break the standstill we have in this issue. We will accelerate the accession process," The Associated Press quoted Tusk as saying at a press conference following a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Poland is holding the EU presidency from January 1 through June 30, 2025.

Speaking in December 2024, Tusk said Poland's EU presidency would prioritize security, energy, and the Union's competitiveness.
