Russia's Unigreen Energy commissions 60 MW solar power plant in Astrakhan region - authorities
ASTRAKHAN. Jan 15 (Interfax) - Unigreen Energy LLC has commissioned the 60 MW Bogdinskaya Solar Power Plant (SPP) in the Astrakhan region's Akhtubinsk district, the region's governor Igor Babushkin said.
"The Bogdinskaya SPP has been commissioned in the Akhtubinsk district. Its capacity is 60 MW, and more than 5 billion rubles were invested in it. There are now 13 solar power plants in our region," Babushkin said on his Telegram channel.
Plans to implement a project for building the Bolkhunskaya SPP with an installed capacity of 250 MW are currently being developed, he said. It is planned that several SPPs with a combined capacity of 350 MW will be built in the region by 2027. The total investment in the project has not been disclosed.
According to the regional Industry Ministry, Astrakhan's installed green energy capacity, excluding the Bogdinskaya SPP, stands at 625.2 MW, or 45.7% of the region's total installed generating capacity. Once the new SPPs are commissioned, the region's green energy capacity will rise 49.6% to 935 MW.
The Astrakhan region is one of Russia's leading regions by produced green electricity. Renewable-based electricity generation stood at 1.062 billion kWh in January-September 2024, or 38% of the regional energy system's total generation. It was previously reported that private investment in constructing SPPs in the region exceeded 70 billion rubles.
Unigreen Energy works in the field of renewable energy. The company implements renewable energy projects in Africa, the CIS, Asia and Latin America. Its portfolio of projects for constructing renewable generation exceeds 1.5 GW. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, 99.98% of the shares in the LLC are owned by Ecoinnovations LLC, which is owned by Mikhail Sivoldaev. As of 2023, Sivoldaev was also the main owner of another solar energy company, Hevel Group.
