Novorossiysk Grain Plant sets all-time record by transshipping 8.4 mln tonnes of grain in 2024

KRASNODAR. Jan 15 (Interfax) - PJSC Novorossiysk Grain Plant , part of the United Grain Company (UGC) group and the largest deep-sea grain terminal in the waters of the Azov-Black Sea basin, boosted exports of grain 6.3% year-on-year to 8.4 million tonnes in 2024 from 7.9 million tonnes in 2023 to set an all-time record, UGC'S press service said.

August and October were the busiest months, when the plant exported 838,000 tonnes and 801,000 tonnes of grain, respectively, with the enterprise setting an all-time high by transshipping 35,000 more tonnes in August than the previous maximum of 803,000 tonnes in October 2020.

"The high transshipment figures resulted from the planned modernization and development of Novorossiysk Grain Plant as part of the large-scale investment program to boost grain shipment volumes to 11.6 million tonnes per year. Moreover, stable demand for Russian grain on the international market and favorable weather conditions facilitated achieving the record in 2024," UGC said.

The grain terminal accounted for 15% of the overall volume of wheat shipments from Russia in 2024.

Novorossiysk Grain Plant has overall storage capacity of 250,000 tonnes, and depths at the berth wall allow handling vessels up to 72,000 tonnes in deadweight.

The list of affiliated persons as on June 30, 2024, indicated that UGC is the principal owner of Novorossiysk Grain Plant with a stake of 51%, and Demetra Holding is another major shareholder with a stake of 35.36%.
