Brief Runet outage fixed - Russian telecoms watchdog

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Specialists of the Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center of Russia's telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor has promptly restored network operation following a brief disruption of connectivity between operators' networks, the watchdog's press service said in a statement to Interfax.

"A brief disruption of connectivity has been detected. The network operation was promptly restored by the on-duty services of the Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center," the statement said.

Network connectivity refers to a degree of interaction between the networks of various operators, as well as the number of routes and intermediate hubs for Internet traffic, it said.

The media outlets, citing Internet users, reported a large-scale Internet outage in Russia after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Problems with access to both domestic and foreign resources and services were detected on fixed and mobile devices, in particular, for subscribers of the Big Four operators, including MTS, Beeline, Megafon, Rostelecom, and T2.
