Russia could export up to 1.5-2 mln tonnes of wheat annually to Vietnam - Agriculture Ministry
HANOI. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The potential for wheat supplies to Vietnam is 1.5-2 million tonnes per year in the medium term, Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister Maxim Titov said.
"Talking specifically about Vietnam, the potential is that we could supply 1.5-2 million tonnes of wheat stably in the medium term," Titov told reporters in Hanoi.
Titov said that wheat supplies to the country increased significantly and exceeded 500,000 tonnes in 2024, following the lifting of a number of phytosanitary restrictions.
"We believe that we have rather good potential here to increase volumes," Titov said.
Titov also said that Russian wheat exports would generally be slightly lower than in the record year of 2024 owing to a decline in the harvest.
Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) preliminary data indicate that Russia's wheat harvest totaled 82.4 million tonnes in 2024 against 92.8 million tonnes in 2023. The overall grain harvest declined to nearly 125 million tonnes from 144.9 million tonnes, respectively.
