EAEU introduces duties on cast aluminum wheels from Japan, Thailand, Turkey, Malaysia for 5 years
MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved the introduction of an anti-dumping duty for cast aluminum wheels from Japan, Thailand, Turkey and Malaysia for a period of five years.
The measure will apply to both new and used wheels with diameters of 13 to 20 inches inclusive and both those equipped and not equipped with tires, the EEC's trade division said. The decision will take effect 30 calendar days after its official publication.
The duty rate is set between 9.38% and 42.82% of the customs value depending on the country of origin. The maximum duty will apply to imports from Thailand, while for wheels from Japan it will be 36.54%, from Turkey - 35.29%, and from Malaysia - the minimum of 9.38%.
The decision to impose the duty was made following an anti-dumping investigation initiated by the EEC's Department of Domestic Market Protection on March 1, 2023, based on a request from the Aluminum Producers, Suppliers and Consumers Association.
"The pricing policies of manufacturers of cast aluminum wheels from dumping countries have resulted in our domestic companies, amid losses in market share, being prevented from increasing the sale price of their products proportionally to cost increases. As a result, their sales became unprofitable, and the profitability of production turned negative," EEC Trade Minister Andrei Slepnev said when commenting on the investigation's results.
