Ukraine receives largest ever monthly amount in external budget support in Dec 2024 - Ukraine's rep in IMF

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine received over $9.2 billion in external budget support in December 2024, a largest monthly amount ever, Vladislav Rashkovan, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Alternate Executive Director for Ukraine, said in a social media post.

"December 2024. In all, we received over $9.2 billion," Ukrainian media quoted Rashkovan as saying on his social account.

The European Union provided Ukraine with over $4.25 billion (4.1 billion euros), Japan over $1.95 billion, the United States over $1.45 billion, the IMF nearly $1.1 billion, and the United Kingdom nearly $0.5 billion in this period, Rashkovan said. The funding from the U.S., Japan, and the UK came in the form of World Bank instruments such as Development Policy Loan (DPL), Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE), and Program-for-Results (PforR), and the World Bank also provided $35 million of its own funding.

According to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry data, the financing of the state budget's general fund in 2024 reached $53.4 billion as of December 19, including $15.7 billion through the placement of domestic government bonds and the rest being external financing. Grants accounted for $11.1 billion in this amount.

Since early 2022, the amount of financing provided by Ukraine's international partners reached $111.3 by December 19, the ministry said.

After that date, Ukraine also received $1.1 billion as a seventh tranche under the IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF), $1 billion from Japan and the UK under the World Bank's reform support program, $1 billion in a grant from the U.S. under the Economic Resilience Activity (ERA) program, 150 million euros from the EU for school meals, and $485 million from the U.S. and the World Bank under the PEACE program.
