MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Russia boosted exports of grain and its processed products 4% year-on-year to 83.5 million tonnes in 2024, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said, citing data from the Argus-Fito federal state information system on December 15, 2024.

Russia's plant and animal health watchdog has posted the relevant materials on social media.

The main buyers of the products were countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Vietnam, Nigeria, Morocco, Sri Lanka, and several other countries increased purchases of Russian grain products the most. Exports resumed to Ethiopia, Djibouti, Palestine, and Sierra Leone last year.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that China entered the top five buyers of Russian grain last year. Exports of spring wheat doubled and barley surged 43% to the country. Moreover, China placed first in importing Russian oats, boosting them 23%.

The two countries' relevant departments last year concluded many years of work to allow Russian semolina and rye flour to enter the Chinese market last year, the agency said.
