Azerbaijani gas export to Europe grows 9.3% to 12.9 bcm in 2024 - energy minister
BAKU. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan exported 12.9 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe in 2024, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said on December 31.
"Four years have passed since Azerbaijan started exporting gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). In total, 12.9 bcm of gas were exported to Europe [from Azerbaijan] this year under short- and long-term contracts," Shahbazov said on the X social network.
Some 42.8 bcm of gas have been supplied to Europe through the TAP to date, since December 31, 2020, he said.
As reported, 11.8 bcm of gas were exported to Europe in 2023, which means the supply grew 9.3% in 2024.
Azerbaijan has gas supply contracts with ten European states, namely, Italy Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia (a memorandum), and Slovakia. It has long-term contracts with fixed supply amounts with three states (Italy, Greece and Bulgaria), in addition to contracts, which do not specify the amounts of gas supply, with the rest.
