Russia's FESCO expecting 18% increase in maritime container shipping in 2024 - Rosatom
MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - The expected total volume of all maritime shipments by FESCO Transportation Group in 2024 will exceed 617,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), up 18% from last year's figure, Rosatom state corporation said in a preliminary summary of the group's performance.
"The first year of FESCO operating under Rosatom's management has already delivered strong results. The volume of imported maritime shipments increased 39%, enabling the group to maintain its leading position in Russia's maritime foreign trade shipments," Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev was quoted as saying.
FESCO fully met its obligations for cargo deliveries under the Northern Supply program in 2024, Rosatom said. "The group's volume of domestic maritime shipments to the regions of the Far North remained at the 2023 level, amounting to over 86,000 TEU, which accounts for around 40% of the market demand for container shipping," it said.
