Federal emergency declared due to fuel oil spill in Kerch Strait - Russian Emergency Situations Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - A government commission chaired by Russian Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov has decided to declare a federal emergency over the fuel spill in the Kerch Strait, the Emergency Situations Ministry press service said on Thursday.

"Bearing in mind the current situation and the reports made to us, I suggest classing the emergency situation caused by the tanker wreck in the Kerch Strait as a federal emergency and introducing a federal response level," the ministry press service quoted Kurenkov as saying.
