OFAC permits transactions involving Russia's Gazprombank related to civil nuclear energy until June 30, 2025

MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - The U.S. authorities have permitted transactions involving Russia's Gazprombank related to civil nuclear energy.

The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which is responsible for sanctions enforcement, published the relevant license on Wednesday. The license is valid until June 30, 2025.

OFAC said the temporary exemption from sanctions applied to projects begun before Gazprombank was added to the SDN List on November 21 this year. This might include transactions related to uranium mining/enrichment and nuclear power plant fuel production.

The license does not apply to any transactions related to new projects, for example the Paks II nuclear power plant project in Hungary.
