Australia to allocate 50 mln euros to EBRD, $6.39 mln to support Ukraine - FM

MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, who arrived on a visit to Kiev on Wednesday, announced a 50-million-euro contribution to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which will ensure Ukraine's access to additional funding, and provide $6.39 million in support of Ukraine's energy sector.

"Australia will provide $66 million to the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, to assist with Ukraine's vital recovery and reconstruction efforts," Ukrainian media quoted Wong as saying at a press briefing in Kiev on Wednesday.

The foreign minister also recalled that Australia had earlier allocated 20 million Australian dollars to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. "Australia will also contribute $10 million in assistance to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to provide heat and electricity for Ukrainians" she said.
