Ukrainian Railways boosts passenger, cargo traffic in 2024 - deputy PM

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways transported a record number of passengers and large volumes of cargo in 2024, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Restoration Minister Alexei Kuleba said.

"The year 2024 is a record year for Ukrainian Railways in terms of cargo transportation, which exceeds 148 million tonnes, and passenger traffic. Ukrainian Railways has transported over 20 million people for the second year in a row," Ukrainian media quoted Kuleba as saying at a ceremony of the departure of the first Kiev-Budapest train.

There are big plans for 2025, Kuleba said. "We are really planning a lot for 2025 to expand the network with European countries, our neighbors - Romania, Poland," he said.
