EU envoys agree on 15th package of Russia sanctions - Hungarian presidency
BRUSSELS. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The permanent representatives of the European Union countries have reached agreement on a new sanction package on Russia, the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the EU reported on Wednesday.
"Ambassadors have just agreed on the 15th package of sanctions," the presidency said on its social account.
In particular, the new sanction package will apply to more persons and entities, including those from third countries, that "indirectly contribute to Russia's military and technological enhancement through the circumvention of export restrictions." It also targets additional vessels from third countries.
As mentioned by European media, the sanctions have yet to be endorsed by the Council of the EU.
Bloomberg said citing sources in November that the new sanction package might include additional trade restrictions and increase tariffs on Russian agricultural products. The Hungarian presidency's statement does not mention such measures.
