Russian govt raises quota for gas supplies from Sakhalin-2 to country's Far East, including in 2024
KHABAROVSK. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The Russian government has raised the quota for gas supplies from the Sakhalin-2 project by 140 million cubic meters in 2024 and then by 200 million cubic meters going forward, according to the order signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Gazprom's Sakhalin Energy LLC subsidiary operates the Sakhalin-2 project.
The quota was 1 billion cubic meters in 2024-2030 prior to the amendments to the order. The quota has increased 14% to 1.14 bcm in 2024 and 20% to 1.2 bcm starting in 2025.
The Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields on the Sakhalin shelf are under development as part of Sakhalin-2. The LNG project plant in Prigorodny on the south of the island was commissioned in 2009, reaching full design capacity of 9.6 million tonnes of LNG per year in 2010. The program to optimize operations subsequently boosted productivity 20% to 11.5 million tonnes of LNG per year, with the Sakhalin Energy LLC project operator producing over 10 million tonnes of LNG in 2023.
