Russia ships hundreds of pedigree breeding goats to North Korea

VLADIVOSTOK. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russia has shipped a group of elite breeding goats to North Korea by railway, Russia's Federal Customs Service (FCS) posted on social media.

"Ussuriysk customs officers have cleared the elite breeding goats at the Khasan railway checkpoint. One hundred dairy goats arrived from the Leningrad Region and were sent to North Korea," the FCS said.

The animals passed veterinary and customs control, then were placed in closed railway cars and shipped to North Korea.

Customs officers at the Khasan railway checkpoint have cleared the export of 2,200 animals from Russia to North Korea since the opening of the cargo route in November 2022. Horses from the Vladimir Region and Holstein cows have also been cleared in addition to goats.

Citing the Primorsk Interregional Office of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), Orlov Trotters, as well as Saanen pedigree goats from the Leningrad Region and Adygea, have reportedly been shipped to North Korea previously.
