Putin discusses Yandex developing drone technologies at meeting with Kudrin

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin mentioned a recent meeting with Yandex corporate development adviser, Alexei Kudrin, during a meeting of the council for strategic development and national projects on Thursday.

The meeting participants specifically discussed Yandex developing unmanned transport technologies, Putin said. The president earlier this week announced a meeting with Kudrin, though he did not specify the topic of discussion.

Putin believes that Russia has the expertise to become a technological leader in the area.

"I know what is happening at other sites, particularly at Kamaz . We must unconditionally support everything that is happening in the area [of drone transport]. Yes, they [the companies] do this with their own money. They have their own technological solutions, but, of course, they need appropriate regulation. Without government support, they will not be able to solve serious problems in this area on their own, or this solution will be very difficult," Putin said.
