Russia had consolidated budget surplus of around 2.5 trillion rubles for Jan-Oct - Putin

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Russia had a consolidated budget surplus of about 2.5 trillion rubles for January-October 2024, President Vladimir Putin said.

"Economic growth is having a positive effect on the fiscal system. For January-October this year, country's consolidated budget and extra-budgetary funds had a consolidated surplus of about 2.5 trillion rubles," Putin said at the VTB Russia Calling! Forum.

He said expenditures were less than 35% of GDP, in line with the 2021 level. "This suggests that the government and the Central Bank are pursuing a balanced policy," he said.

The Federal Treasury said there was a consolidated budget surplus of 577 billion rubles for January-September and a surplus of 1.766 trillion rubles for January-August.
