EEC Council approves draft EAEU agreement on mutual stock market access for brokers

MINSK. Dec 2 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council has approved a draft agreement to allow brokers and dealers from one Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) country to participate in trading on the stock exchanges of other union members and has sent it to the five EAEU countries to undergo the necessary internal government procedures, the EEC's press service reported on Friday.

The agreement will make it possible to create a common space for exchange transactions, where brokers and dealers will be able to work on the basis of licenses issued by the authorities of their home countries, the press release said.

The agreement will significantly expand possibilities for investors, and increase the liquidity and appeal of financial instruments traded on EAEU exchanges, the EEC said.

"The current agreement and the already approved agreement on access and circulation of securities are aimed at forming a common financial market and exchange space within the EAEU," EEC Economy and Financial Policy Minister Bakhyt Sultanov said in the press release.
