EEC grants Russia tariff exemptions to import 150,000 tonnes of potatoes, 55,000 tonnes of carrots, 230,000 tonnes of apples from Jan 1 to July 31, 2025

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to grant Russia a tariff exemption for duty-free imports of specific volumes of potatoes, carrots and apples.

The exemption applies to imports of up to 150,000 tonnes of potatoes, 55,000 tonnes of carrots and 230,000 tonnes of apples, an EEC press release said. The exemption period will run from January 1 to July 31, 2025.

These products are intended for retail sale or further processing.

"Every year during the off-season, there are significant fluctuations in consumer prices for fruit and vegetables, primarily due to the depletion of domestic stocks. Given this year's lower harvest, the adopted measure will ensure additional supply to the domestic market and increase the availability of vegetables and apples for the population," EEC Trade Minister Andrei Slepnev was quoted as saying in the press release.

The tariff exemption will be granted upon presentation of a certificate issued by an authorized body, he said.
