Norway plans to provide $3.2 bln to Ukraine in 2025
BERLIN. Nov 29 (Interfax) - The Norwegian government on Thursday announced its decision to extend its program of financial support for Ukraine until 2030 and to provide aid of at least NOK 35 billion, or approximately $3.2 billion, to Kiev in 2025.
"We are extending our support through 2030, and next year we will provide at least 35 billion Norwegian kroner in funding," Norwegian Prime Minister Gahr Store said in a statement.
Of this, 22.5 billion Norwegian kroner, or around $1.1 billion, will be allocated as military support for Ukraine, and another 12.5 billion Norwegian kroner, or around $1.1 billion, as humanitarian assistance, the government said in a statement on its website.
"When it comes to military support, we will give priority to providing support to the Ukrainian defense industry. [...] We will also provide funding for efforts to secure adequate access to electricity for the Ukrainian population," Store said.
The overall amount of funding for Ukraine is expected to reach at least $14 billion by 2030, the government said. A minimum allocation of $1.4 billion per year has been established, it said.
In 2023, Norway committed to help Ukraine for the next five years, earmarking around $7.1 billion for these purposes. The latest announcement means that Oslo stands ready to support Ukraine for a longer period.
