Russian presidential aide, USC discuss outlook for shipbuilding industry
MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Kremlin aide and Marine Board Chairman Nikolai Patrushev discussed the development of Russia's shipbuilding industry with the management of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), his office said on Friday.
"The subject of discussion was the sector's preparation for the transition to the Shipbuilding 4.0 concept, which calls for the use of large-block construction, robotization and extensive digitalization of production," the press release said.
During his visit to USC offices, Patrushev acquainted himself with the management company's work, and discussed key areas of operations, and the corporation's current plans and development strategy with USC board chairman Andrei Kostin and CEO Andrei Puchkov, the release said.
Patrushev stressed the need to increase the efficiency of shipbuilding enterprises, modernize production facilities, introduce additive technology, digitalize manufacturing processes, achieve technological independence in the sector and improve the financial health of shipbuilding organizations, the release said.
"Special attention was devoted to the development of human resources. Andrei Puchkov said the corporation has established cooperation with industry colleges, technical schools and higher education institutions," the release said.
Patrushev said the Russian president is monitoring the development of the country's shipbuilding industry. He also noted the high potential and accumulated competencies that will make it possible to carry out both government and commercial orders to a high standard, the office said.
