Russia's Damate Group receives permission to export turkey, duck products to Egypt
MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Damate Group, a leading turkey meat producer in Russia, has received approval to export turkey and duck products to Egypt, the company said in a press release.
The products will be exported from poultry complexes in the Rostov and Penza regions. The first shipments are expected soon. Prior to this, Egyptian specialists from IS EG Halal conducted a comprehensive audit of Damate's facilities, inspecting production sites, reviewing technological processes and organizational structure and verifying all required documentation. Egypt's veterinary service also conducted an inspection.
The entire process of entering the Egyptian market took four years, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales Darya Lashchenko was quoted as saying by the press service.
Damate launched its export operations in 2015 and currently holds permits to supply products to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries and 34 other countries worldwide. The company began exporting turkey from its Rostov facility in March 2021, with customers including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Abkhazia, Uzbekistan, Benin, Ghana, Liberia, the UAE, Kuwait, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea (Conakry), Gabon, Angola, Jordan, the Maldives and Angola.
Damate is developing several areas of its agricultural business. In addition to turkey meat, the group produces lamb, duck and dairy products. It has assets in the Penza, Rostov and Tyumen regions and in the North Caucasus Federal District. It owns 108,000 hectares of land in the regions where it operates.
The group produced 237,000 tonnes of turkey meat in slaughter weight in 2023, up 10% from 2022. Production grew 9% in H1 2024 to 126,000 tonnes. Production of duck meat fell 24% in 2023 to 18,600 tonnes.
