Chisinau reaches agreement with Gazprom on new Moldovagaz board - Moldovan Energy Ministry
CHISINAU. Nov 27 (Interfax) - The Moldovan authorities have reached a consensus with Gazprom regarding the appointment of a new board of directors for JSC Moldovagaz, Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said at a press conference on Wednesday following his visit to St. Petersburg, where negotiations were held with Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller.
The agreement concerns Dorin Junghietu, who has been proposed as the chairman of the board, Vadim Ceban as vice-chairman, and Eduard Kalancha and Radu Mandraburka as board members. The Energy Ministry proposed these candidates in September, but Gazprom representatives, who hold the majority on the Moldovagaz Supervisory Board, refused to approve the appointments without further discussions.
"There is a consensus on appointing these individuals, so that the company will have a fully functional management team after all procedures are completed in the normal way. All procedures will be carried out, after which the supervisory board will vote," Parlicov said.
Previously, Sergiu Tofilat, a member of the Moldovagaz Supervisory Board, suggested imposing external management due to delays in appointing the new board. Parlicov said at the press conference that "after the trip to St. Petersburg, this issue is now resolved."
