Capella Wind Technology, SOCAR to start wind turbine component assembly in Azerbaijan

BAKU. Nov 26 (Interfax) - Denmark's Capella Wind Technology plans to invest in renewable energy in Azerbaijan, and has reached agreement with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) on joint projects.

"Capella Wind Technology signed an agreement with SOCAR Green within the framework of the (UN climate conference) COP29 on investing in renewable energy in Azerbaijan. The agreement covers medium-scale wind energy projects and setting up a regional center to assemble wind turbine components and a service center to support sustainable energy growth," the Azerbaijani Trade Mission in Istanbul said on social media.

The signing of the agreement followed meetings with Capella Wind Technology, which the mission has hosted since March 2024.

"We believe that this cooperation will make a considerable contribution to achieving Azerbaijan's goals to increase the use of renewable resources in the energy sector," the statement said.

Azerbaijani media reported, citing the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), that Capella Wind Technology discussed the possibility of building a wind power plant in the NAR.
