Uzbek automobile industry aiming to produce 450,000 vehicles, reach $700 mln in exports in 2025

TASHKENT. Nov 26 (Interfax) - JSC Uzavtosanoat (Uzavtoprom) is planning to produce 450,000 vehicles and increase its exports to $700 million in 2025, the head of state's press service said.

Uzavtosanoat Chairman Ulugbek Rozukulov reported on plans for car production and exports in 2025 as well as the implementation of 63 projects worth $325 million under the localization program to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The press service did not specify production forecasts for 2024. However, 338,000 passenger cars were produced from January to October this year, with exports amounting to $455 million, it said.

The president was informed about plans to strengthen cooperation with regional enterprises and increase localization. In particular, plans are in place for 63 projects which will master production of 700 different parts, it said.

The automotive industry's share in the country's industrial sector is 10%. Production of 1,400 types of components has been localized. Due to the measures taken, costs in the sector have fallen 4%, it said.

JSC Uzavtosanoat, which unites Uzbekistan's automotive enterprises, was established in 2004. The company includes more than 20 enterprises, the largest being UzAuto Motors, SamAvto LLC which manufactures buses and trucks using the Isuzu chassis, and MAN Auto Uzbekistan, which produces heavy-duty trucks.
