Ukrainian seaports handle 86.8 mln tonnes of cargo between Jan 1 and Nov 17, 2024 - authority
MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Ukraine's seaports have handled 86.8 million tonnes of cargo between January 1 and November 17, 2024, including 53.5 million tonnes of grain exports, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority as saying in a statement on social media.
The largest exports over this period were sunflower oil, of which Ukraine exported 5.3 million tonnes for $4.4 billion, corn (25.5 million tonnes for $4.2 billion), and wheat (19 million tonnes for $3.4 billion), the statement said.
As previously reported, freight transshipment by Ukrainian ports increased 78.1% to 82.1 million tonnes in January-October 2024 year-on-year. In October 2024, Ukraine's ports handled 8 million tonnes, of which 6.8 million tonnes, or 85%, were shipped using the sea corridor unilaterally opened by Kiev.
Agricultural products accounted for more than half of all cargo handled by the Ukrainian ports in October 2024, standing at 5 million tonnes, a nearly 3.3-fold increase compared to the same period of 2023.
