China's Universal International Ltd to construct 100 MW solar power plant in Azerbaijan
BAKU. Nov 21 (Interfax) - China's Universal International Holdings Limited has won the first auction held by Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry, with assistance from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, to construct a 100-MW solar power plant (SPP), Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry said.
"Universal International Holdings Limited has won the auction to construct the 100-MW Gobustan SPP, placing the lowest bid for each kilowatt-hour of electricity," the ministry said.
The company plans to commission the station in 2027. The annual electricity generation volume should be about 260 million kWh.
"This should save 57 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere by 124,000 tonnes," the ministry said.
