CEB Administrative Council approves 200-mln-euro loan to support internally displaced persons in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Nov 18 (Interfax) - The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) Administrative Council has approved a project supporting internally displaced persons in Ukraine with a 200-million-euro loan, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian Finance Ministry website.

As reported, the funds will cover budget payments to internally displaced persons to ensure their social adaptation and integration into new communities. Payments cover temporary accommodation, physical rehabilitation, free meals for internally displaced persons' children in pre-school, school and vocational educational institutions, as well as assistance in employment in other regions.

According to the Finance Ministry, the loan is the third CEB operation in Ukraine since its official accession to the bank in June 2023. The funding approved for Ukraine totals 400 million euros.

The Health Enhancement And Lifesaving (HEAL) Ukraine Project is underway in the healthcare sector. Ukraine has received the first bank tranches nearing 16 million euros. The funds cover payments under healthcare guarantee programs and restore access to primary health care, which will improve the quality and access to healthcare services.

The HOME project is being implemented in the housing construction and restoration sector, providing compensation for lost property in the total amount of 100 million euros, of which 70 million euros have already been provided. As of early November 2024, 1,741 housing certificates had been financed under the project in the total amount of 2.9 billion hryvni, allowing purchasing more than 1,400 real estate properties. By the end of this November, Ukraine will receive the second tranche in the amount of 30 million euros.
