Ukrposhta to buy 880 electric scooters via EBRD grant

MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced a tender to procure 880 electric scooters for Ukrposhta's courier delivery service, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian postal operator's statement.

The closing date for the submission of bids is December 8, the EBRD said on its website.

"Ukrposhta invites manufacturers and suppliers of electric transport to participate in the tender announced on the EBRD website for the procurement of 880 electric courier scooters. The purchase will help make courier deliver more effective and will raise the quality of services and the sustainability of postal infrastructure. The project is planned for implementation in 2025," Ukrposhta said on its website on Thursday.

The project is funded by loans and a grant from the EBRD.

Electric scooters should have a range of at least 100 kilometers, a maximum speed from 40 to 70 kilometers per hour, a motor of at least 2,700W, and the weight limit of at least 180 kilograms. Tender participants are required to provide a warranty period of 12 months.

Ukrposhta will hold online meetings with suppliers in November. The company said earlier that it would launch courier delivery and delivery to automated parcel lockers as part of a pilot project in Kiev in December. These options will become available across Ukraine in 2025.
