Russian PM promotes Maxim Kolesnikov to first deputy economy minister

MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order on November 14 to promote Deputy Economic Development Minister Maxim Kolesnikov to first deputy minister, the document, posted on the website for disclosure of legal acts, showed.

Kolesnikov was appointed deputy economic development minister in June 2022. He oversees the department of economic sectors, department of strategic development and innovation, department of digital development and data economy and the department of digital transformation.

Kolesnikov, who was born in 1987 in Perm, graduated from the Russian government's Finance Academy in 2009 with a degree in finance and credit. He worked at Tobolsk-Polymer LLC in 2009-2012, headed the economic planning department at ZapSibNeftekhim LLC in 2012-2014 and held various positions at the Monocities Development Fund in 2014-2017.

In 2017-2020, Kolesnikov served as economic development and investment minister of Perm Territory, the governor of which at the time was current Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov.

The position of first deputy minister at the Economic Development Ministry became vacant after Ilya Torosov stepped down in mid-October.
