Demand for electric vehicles in Ukraine continues slight decline in Oct - Ukrautoprom
MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - A total of 4,277 new and used electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine in October, this figure is 5% lower than in October 2023 and slightly, by 12 vehicles lower than in September 2024, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the social networks of Ukrautoprom, the national association of motor vehicle manufacturers.
As reported, the demand for electric vehicles grew by 68% in August 2024 year-on-year, reaching 6,445 cars, amid rumors of the introduction of a new military duty of 15% for car buyers.
It emerged in late August that the government had abandoned this initiative, and a slight decline of 0.2% was recorded in the number of electric vehicle registrations as early as in September.
At the same time, the share of new electric cars among those registered grew to 23% in October compared to 19% in October 2023, Ukrautoprom said.
The bulk of the electric vehicles registered in October, 4,124, comprised passenger cars, including 969 new and 3,155 used ones, and only 17 of the 153 registered commercial electric vehicles were new.
The Honda M-NV is the leader of the top five most popular models among new electric vehicles with 188 cars registered in October, followed by the Volkswagen ID.4 (100), the ZEEKR 001 (94), BYD Song Plus (74), and the Audi Q4 e-tron (41).
The top five models of used electric vehicles registered in October comprised the Nissan Leaf with 447 cars, the Tesla Model Y (299), the Tesla Model 3 (281), the Hyundai Kona (195), and the Volkswagen e-Golf (182).
Over 44,200 electric vehicles, including 20% of them being new ones and 80% used, as in the previous year, passed initial registrations in Ukraine in January-October 2024, which is 54% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The AUTO-Consulting information and analytical group, in turn, has also noted a slowdown in the demand for electric vehicles, in particular, the new ones.
"In October, electric vehicles accounted for 17.5% of the Ukrainian market of new automobiles, whereas it was 18% in the previous year," Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to the group's website.
Sales of new electric cars dropped by 3.7% compared to October 2023, reaching a little over a thousand of cars.
"The results of the ten months look more encouraging, all operators have managed to sell over 10,000 electric vehicles, which is 18.5% more than in the same period of 2023, and the share of new passenger cars on the market grew to 16.8% against 16.1% year-on-year," the group said.
As reported, according to Ukrautoprom, registrations of new and used electric vehicles in Ukraine grew 2.8 times, reaching 37,600, and the share of new ones among them grew to 20% from 17% a year before.
