Number of registered investors grows in Ukraine in Oct
MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The total number of investors registered in Ukraine by the Clearing Center for Servicing Contracts in Financial Markets neared 195,300 in October, which is 1,200, or 0.06% more than in September.
As reported by Ukrainian media with the reference to the Center website, the volume of processed transactions with shares of foreign issuers increased almost 34 times to 6.1 million hryvni in October versus 181,000 hryvni in September, while the number of such transactions increased from eight to 36.
According to the website, the volume of processed transactions with shares of Ukrainian issuers increased by 50% from 126,000 to 638,000 hryvni, while the number of transactions doubled to six.
There was a substantial increase in the number of transactions with securities of mutual investment institutions from 244 to 286 in October, while the volume decreased by 15% from 345.7 million to 286 million hryvni, the center said.
The number of transactions with external government bonds grew steeply in October, from 30 to 255, while the volume amounted to 9.7 million hryvni (2.25 million hryvni a month earlier).
As for transactions with domestic government bonds denominated in hryvnia, their number and volume increased from 11,000 transactions worth of 30.3 billion hryvni in September to 14.100 transactions worth of 46.75 billion hryvni in October.
The number of transactions with dollar-denominated government bonds rose by 51%, to 202, while the volume more than doubled from $146 million to $331.6 million.
The number of transactions with euro-denominated government bonds in October decreased from 23 in September to 11 in October, while their volume increased from 7.3 million euros to 10.5 million euros.
The number of transactions with foreign issuers' bonds increased last month: 125 transactions worth of 3.68 billion hryvni were conducted, versus 119 worth of 19.6 billion hryvni a month before, the center said.
As for transactions with Ukrainian issuers' bonds, the center said their number grew 14%, to 2,100, while the volume increased by 11% compared to September to 196.4 million hryvni in October.
The most active brokers participating in clearing in October were (in descending order) ICU, BTS Broker, PrivatBank, Univer Capital LLC and Ukreximbank, the center said.
The second five comprised Ukrgasbank, CB Globus, Daliz Finance, Sense Bank and Kinto, Ltd.
