Putin to take part in Chukotka nuclear-powered icebreaker's launch ceremony by video link on Wed - Peskov
MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the Chukotka nuclear-powered icebreaker's launch ceremony by video link on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"This afternoon, in a couple of hours, the president will take part in the Chukotka nuclear-powered icebreaker's launch ceremony by video link. Russia's icebreaker construction program is continuing, it has a paramount importance due to our country's geography and the ongoing intensive development of the Russian Arctic and the Northern Sea Route. So, this is a truly important, significant event," Peskov told the press.
Putin will address the event's participants, Peskov said. Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov and United Shipbuilding Corporation Director Andrei Puchkov will deliver reports, and Sirius Federal Territory Board Chair Yelena Shmelyova will make a brief speech, he said.
"Today we focus on the program to build Russian nuclear-powered icebreakers and its results," he said.
Putin will have domestic meetings and conferences later today.
