Gazprom secures clearance to fully develop Power of Siberia capacity

MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Gazprom has received clearance from government experts to fully develop the linear and pumping capacity of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to China.

State expert review office Glavgosexpertiza has issued a favourable expert conclusion on the design documentation for the construction of the relevant facilities, the Unified State Registry of Expert Conclusions on Design Documentation for Capital Construction Projects showed.

This refers to second compressor sections at all eight compressor stations (project names cited: CS-1 Saldykelskaya, CS-2 Olekminskaya, CS-3 Amginskaya, CS-4 Nimnyrskaya, CS-5 Nagornaya, CS-6 Skovorodinskaya, CS-7 Sivakinskaya and CS-7a Zeiskaya) and loops to feed gas for export in the amount of 30 billion cubic meters per year and 38 bcm per year.

The pipeline runs more than 3,000 km through Yakutia (Lensky, Olekminsky, Aldansky and Neryungrinsky districts) and Amur Region (Tyndinsky, Skovorodinsky, Magdagachinsky, Shimanovsky and Svobodnensky districts).

Russia began exporting gas to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline in 2019 from the Chayanda field in Yakutia. The Kovykta field in Irkutsk Region was connected to the pipeline system in 2022.

The contracted amount of exports along the pipeline for 2024 is 30 bcm. The pipeline is supposed to reach full export capacity of 38 bcm per year ahead of schedule this December.
