Kyrgyz president hoping for swift ratification of cooperation agreement with EU
BISHKEK. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has asked Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to expedite the ratification of the Kyrgyz-EU cooperation agreement.
"We have launched domestic procedures to ratify the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union. I would like to ask you to help expedite the ratification procedure in Hungary and EU member states," Japarov's press service quoted his statement.
Kyrgyzstan and Hungary are considering possibilities of broader political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Japarov said. "In the course of negotiations, we are planning to sign a number of important documents, to discuss the regional agenda, and to exchange views on key aspects of the international situation. Our regular meetings are the genuine proof of the absence of problems between our countries," he said.
Kyrgyzstan supports Hungary's initiative of holding an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest in 2025. "The Kyrgyz side highly appreciates the aspiration of our Hungarian brothers for Turkic integration. We are glad that the informal summit in Budapest will be held as part of our presidency of the OTS and we are ready to do everything for its success as the presiding country," Japarov said.
