Moscow and Minsk should make joint efforts to create software that substitutes imports - Belarusian PM

MINSK. Nov 5 (Interfax) - More attention needs to be paid to creating software that substitutes imports, and Russia and Belarus should combine their efforts in this area, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said.

"In our view, a critically important area of cooperation is creating national software to substitute imports. We think it's necessary to combine our efforts for this, ensure equal conditions for IT companies and remove restrictions and barriers," Golovchenko said when speaking at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State in Minsk on Tuesday.

This will ensure that the two countries' companies have access to the results of digital projects on the Union State's market, he said.

Combining Russia and Belarus's industrial and technological potential to ensure economic security, import substitution and technological sovereignty is a critically important task, he said.
