Ukraine sows nearly 6 million ha of winter crops for harvest of 2025 - ministry
MOSCOW. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 5.98 million hectares of winter crops as of November 5 compared to 5.7 million hectares as of the week before, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the press service for the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Winter grains are being sown in all regions, the ministry said. Overall, they have already been sown on nearly 4.9 million hectares, which is 95% of the forecast. In particular, winter wheat is sown on 4.3 million hectares (this figure was 4.1 million hectares a week earlier), which is 96% of the projected area under this crop, barley on 543,600 hectares (486,100 hectares) and 85%, rye on 67,900 hectares (66,000 hectares) and 96%, rapeseed on 1.07 million hectares (1.05 million hectares) and 96%, respectively.
As of the same date a year earlier, 5.53 million hectares of winter crops were sown in Ukraine, including wheat was sown on 3.867 million hectares, barley on 442,000 hectares, rye on 76,000 hectares, and rapeseed on 1.142 million hectares.
