Ukrainian farmers harvest 66.7 mln tonnes of grains, oilseeds - Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry
MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Ukrainian farmers harvested 66.7 million tonnes of new grain and oilseed crops from 18.6 million hectares of farmland as of October 25, compared to 63.7 million tonnes from 18.1 million hectares a week before.
In particular, they harvested 47.2 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops (45.1 million tonnes a week before), 18.8 million tonnes of oilseeds (18.6 million tonnes), and 9.5 million tonnes of sugar beets (8.3 million tonnes), the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said.
Farmers have finished harvesting wheat, gathering 22.3 million tonnes from 4.9 million hectares, with a yield of 4.24 tonnes per hectare, 5.5 million tonnes of barley from 1.4 million hectares with a yield of 3.92 tonnes per hectare, 465,300 tonnes of peas from 212,200 hectares with a yield of 2.19 tonnes per hectare, and 3.5 million tonnes of rapeseed from 1.3 million hectares with a yield of 2.73 tonnes per hectare, it said.
They are continuing to harvest corn, having gathered 18.3 million tonnes (15.4 million tonnes a week before) from 3.07 million hectares (76% of the target), 126,900 tonnes of buckwheat (124,800 tonnes) from 87,500 hectares (98%), and 160,200 tonnes of millets (159,500 tonnes) from 85,900 hectares (92%).
Ukrainian farmers are also completing the harvesting of oilseed crops. In particular, they have gathered 5.73 million tonnes of soybeans (5.6 million tonnes a week before) from 2.52 million hectares (95%) and 9.599 million tonnes of sunflower (9.5 million tonnes) from 4.67 million hectares (95%).
The largest amounts of grain crops have been harvested in the Odessa region (4.4 million tonnes), the Poltava region (4 million tonnes), and the Chernigov region (3.7 million tonnes). The highest crop yield was achieved in the Khmelnitsky region (7.23 tonnes per hectare), the Chernigov region (6.7 tonnes per hectare), and the Chernovtsy region (6.56 tonnes per hectare).
